Myrrh resin has a long history dating back to 3000 BCE with Egyptians. This and Frankincense were gifted to Christ. Egyptians used it for religious ceremonies as well as cosmetics, perfumes, anointing kings, scenting clothes of travelers to holy sites, as well as used in embalming techniques of the time. With it’s smokey and earthy scent, it was often used during funerals and funeral pyres to disguise any foul odors. The trees that it’s harvested from are indigenous to Ethiopia and Somalia The Romans valued it so much that they used it to secure monetary debts!
